If you’re planning a 3 days tour from Marrakech to Fes, you’re in for an incredible adventure. This route takes you through some of the most beautiful and iconic landscapes in Morocco, including the Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert, and the historic cities of Fes and Marrakech. In this itinerary, we’ll break down each day’s highlights and what you can expect to see and experience.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech to Dades
On the first day of your tour, you’ll depart Marrakech and head east toward the Atlas Mountains. The drive will take you through some beautiful valleys and scenic landscapes before reaching the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which is the highest point in the Atlas Mountains at 2,260 meters above sea level.
After crossing the pass, you’ll descend into the Ouarzazate region, where you can visit the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular filming location for Hollywood movies. After visiting the Kasbah, you’ll continue driving to the Dades Gorges, where you’ll spend the night in a local hotel or a traditional Kasbah.
Day 2: Dades to Merzouga
On the second day, you’ll continue your journey eastward through the desert landscape, passing through several small towns and villages along the way. You’ll have the opportunity to stop and explore the Todra Gorges, which are some of the most stunning natural rock formations in Morocco.
From there, you’ll head further east to Merzouga, which is located on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Once you arrive in Merzouga, you’ll have the opportunity to take a camel ride into the desert to experience the beauty of the dunes at sunset. You’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber tent in a desert camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner and music under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga to Fes
On the final day of your tour, you’ll wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga on camelback. After breakfast, you’ll continue driving north through the Ziz Valley, passing through the towns of Erfoud and Midelt before reaching the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic and culturally rich cities. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the city’s medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to numerous historic landmarks, including the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, and the Dar Batha Museum.
