3 Hours Before Flight Time
Your 4 days desert tour from Marrakech begins with a pickup from your accommodation. Leaving the city behind, you travel through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N Tichka Pass. Along the way, your driver guide will stop at scenic viewpoints, and photo stops can be made whenever you wish.
After lunch in Ait Ben Haddou or Ouarzazate, the journey continues toward the Dades Gorges, passing through the Skoura oasis and the beautiful Rose Valley. In Skoura, you may choose to visit the famous Amridil Kasbah, one of the best preserved fortified villages in Morocco. During spring, the valley is filled with blooming roses, offering a colorful and fragrant landscape.
Upon arrival in Dades Gorges, admire the unique rock formations known as the monkey fingers and enjoy panoramic views of the canyon. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel in Dades Gorges.
After breakfast, travel along the Dades and Todra rivers, surrounded by palm groves and traditional Berber villages. The highlight of the morning is Todra Gorge near Tinghir, one of the most impressive canyons in Morocco, where sheer rock walls rise dramatically above the river.
Continuing toward Merzouga, your driver guide may suggest a stop at a traditional Berber shop. Here, you can take photos in Berber clothing and learn about local customs. Buying souvenirs is optional and never required.
Arriving in Merzouga, you will ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset and enjoy sandboarding if you wish. In the evening, settle into a luxury desert camp, where a traditional dinner is served under the stars, followed by a magical Sahara night.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga town either by camel or in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle.
A short drive brings you to Khamliya village, known for its authentic Gnawa music. Enjoy a cultural visit and listen to traditional rhythms performed by local musicians. The journey then continues to Rissani, an important historical town and former caravan trading center. On market days Tuesday Thursday or Sunday, you may visit the lively local souk.
From Rissani, travel through the scenic Draa Valley near Agdez, famous for its long palm groves and traditional villages. In the afternoon, arrive in Ouarzazate and check in to your hotel for the night.
After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Africa. Visit the city highlights including Atlas Studios and the historic Taourirt Kasbah, a former residence of powerful rulers.
Next, head to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Walk through its ancient pathways and learn about its role in famous films and series such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.
Leaving Ait Ben Haddou, drive through the Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech, passing traditional Berber villages and stunning mountain scenery. Along the way, stop to admire the Kasbah of Telouet, once home to the powerful El Glaoui family.
