This 5 days tour from Marrakech to Fes is an excellent way to explore some of Morocco’s most iconic and diverse landscapes.
You’ll visit ancient kasbahs, explore the stunning Todra and Dades gorges, ride camels across the sand dunes of Merzouga, and experience the hospitality and culture of traditional Berber families.
Along the way, you’ll also have the opportunity to see the Barbary apes of the Middle Atlas Mountains, visit the Hollywood of Morocco, and explore the alpine town of Ifrane.
The tour is led by an experienced driver/guide, and you’ll stay in comfortable hotels and a traditional desert camp along the way. Overall, this tour is an excellent way to experience the beauty and diversity of Morocco, and to immerse yourself in its rich culture and history.
Marrrakech
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Your driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech in the morning to start your journey towards Dades Gorges.
You’ll head east towards the High Atlas Mountains, passing through beautiful landscapes, traditional Berber villages, and some of Morocco’s most famous kasbahs. You’ll stop for a visit at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified village that has served as the backdrop for many famous movies, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
You’ll then continue on towards Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco” due to its many movie studios and filming locations. You’ll stop for lunch here before continuing on to Dades Gorges, where you’ll check in to your hotel and spend the night.
After breakfast, you’ll depart from your hotel and head towards Merzouga, passing through the stunning Todra Gorges along the way.
You’ll have the opportunity to stop and explore the area before continuing on towards Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and the annual Date Festival.
From Erfoud, you’ll head towards Merzouga, where you’ll switch from your vehicle to a camel for a sunset trek across the sand dunes to your desert camp. You’ll spend the night at the camp under the stars, enjoying traditional Moroccan cuisine and music around the campfire.
After breakfast at your camp, you’ll have a full day to explore the Merzouga desert. You’ll have the option to take a guided camel trek deeper into the dunes, visit a nomadic Berber family to learn about their way of life, or simply relax at the camp and take in the stunning desert scenery. In the evening, you’ll return to the camp for another night under the stars.
After breakfast, you’ll depart from the desert and head north towards Midelt, passing through the Ziz Valley and its picturesque oases. You’ll have the opportunity to stop and explore the area before continuing on to Midelt, a small town nestled in the Atlas Mountains. You’ll check in to your hotel and spend the night.
After breakfast, you’ll depart from Midelt and head towards Fes, passing through the stunning cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains and stopping to see the Barbary apes that inhabit the area. You’ll then continue on to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine architecture and ski resorts. From Ifrane, you’ll head towards Fes, where you’ll arrive in the early evening and be dropped off at your hotel.
